Dorian called me, on my new phone! She says she bought black and white stripy tights to wear with the wings and blue dress. It’s going to look so wonderful.

I have to sit with Kent while she’s in the wedding. I never know what to say to him. I hope he wears his Never Mind the Bullocks t-shirt.

I’m not saying what I want to say here. I’m saying everything else I can think of first. There is a reason why I’m writing tonight. I mean, yeah, it’s great, I have a phone now. It may only have about ten minutes a month on it, and be second only, in quality, to one of those phones for people who have fallen and can’t get up, but it is mine and I am paying for it myself. And, yup, I’m gonna get dressed up and almost kind of want to go to a party-like thing…and it’s true I’m stressing about hanging out with Kent alone….but there’s more going on than that.

Did I mention that the phone only has one ring tone, as it turns out? And it’s so loud I can’t really give my number out, or if I do I have to leave the thing at home, buried under a pillow. Seriously, it’s more like an alarm tone than a ring tone.

Okay, that’s not what’s on my mind. It’s this other thing.

It’s definitely become an obsession with me. I keep going over this conversation I had with Lilly about Desiree. Lilly came in at the end of the day, and came by to ask me how the class was. It’s okay, I said. I like it.

And then she asked me how I was. And I said, like, oh, I don’t know….there’s this thing going on and I’m not too sure about it….and she said ‘wanna talk?’ so we went into her office and that was weird cause I’ve only been in there once before but then, the kitchen still had people around. Her office looks like something exploded in it. It’s messy. Really cluttery. I don’t mind. It’s interesting.

“So….how’re things going with you and Desiree…?” she asked, right off the top like that. It took every ounce of concentration to not make a surprised expression.

“I don’t know….I guess you were right…she’s nice enough….”

“But?”

I was glad there was a lot to look at, aside from, say, Lilly. “But I don’t know….I kind of feel like she wants to become my best friend or something all of the sudden and,” (I was rambling), “it’s just weird since I don’t even know her…she gave me a bracelet. A really nice one. I don’t know why. Why would she do that?”

“I think she really likes you.” She paused. “Maybe there’s more there.”

“ ‘More’ like how?” I was paying attention, because after my talk with Ash I’ve been feeling even more confused. I needed to hear it from someone else. I didn’t tell her it was the best bracelet I ever saw. And it was made of hearts.
